Popular sports brand Adidas has stepped up its efforts in China, as it has announced a long-awaited jersey styled on those worn by basketball star Jeremy Lin will be released in the country imminently.
Chief executive officer Herbert Hainer, speaking in an interview this week, said the garments will be based on the sporting apparel worn by New York Knicks player Lin.
They are due to be released in the next few days and are sure to be highly popular with consumers.
Adidas has spoken out on several new marketing strategies in recent weeks, including its plans to increasingly appeal to teenage girls. Business Week told how it is hoping to achieve sales of $1 billion (£630 million) in this market by 2015.
"We are quite happy that we [have been] the partner of the NBA for several years now. This is what we all like in sports - young people coming up and playing fantastic," Mr Hainer is quoted by Bloomberg as stating.
