Samantha Cameron has suggested the fashion industry is no longer just about creativity, it is also a sustainable business that can boost the country's industry.
Speaking at a special Downing Street reception to mark the end of London Fashion Week, the prime minister's wife admitted the market has plenty of potential.
"I'm passionate about what fashion can do for this country and if we're really serious about British fashion, we need to not just design it in Britain, but make it in Britain," Mrs Cameron stated.
London Fashion Week ran from last Friday (February 17th) and comes to a close today with a day of focus on menswear.
A host of the most prestigious names in the British fashion industry were in attendance at the premier's residence, where his wife greeted them in a bright pink and green dress.
She was also joined by retail tycoon Sir Philip Green as she urged British creators to get to work in their home country.
